The Red Walnut was developed at The Univerity of California by grafting a cutting from the Persian red-skinned walnut onto the English walnut tree,  and is hard to find commercially. It is naturally higher in oils and low in tannins making it a mild, yet delicious option for baking and snacking. Beautiful in light colored baked items like cookies and cakes, and a conversation starter! Naturally red skin, no dye.
